How to Configure vSphere Hypervisor ESXi 6.7
First, download the 6.7U2 ISOfile to your computer and then follow the stages below to setup vSphere ESXi 6.7U2 on a physical server or virtual machine.
Step 1
Boot your system with the ISO file. On the Boot screen, press Enter on the ESXi-6.7U2.0-8169922-standard installer option.
Step 2
Wait while loading ESXi installer…
Step 3
Wait while the necessary files for the installation are copying…
Step 4
Welcome to the Installation window, press Enter to continue.
Step 5
Press the F11 key to accept the license agreement.
Step 6
Scanning for available devices on your system…
Step 7
Select the disk to install ESXi and press Enter.
Step 8
Select your keyboard layout and press the Enter key.
Step 9
Set your admin password for your server. Make sure your password is complex and then press Enter to continue installing VM ESXi 6.7U2.
Step 10
Press F11 to confirm the installation.
Step 11
Wait while installing vSphere ESXi 6.7U2…
Step 12
After installing it, press Enter on the Remove the installation media before rebootingoption.

Rebooting server…

How to Install vSphere 6.7U2 on VMware Workstation 15/14
For VMware ESXi 6.7U2 training, you can also use the virtualization software. You can run VMware ESXi 6.7U2 on VMware Workstation 15 / VMware Workstation 14, but your computer must have high hardware capabilities.
For testing purposes only, follow these steps in order to setup vSphere Hypervisor ESXi 6.7U2 on the VM.
Step 1
First, open the VM Workstation 14 virtualization program and click Create a New VM to create a new VM.
In the Create New VM window, select Custom (advanced) and click the Next button.
Step 2
In the hardware compatibility window, make sure that Workstation 14.x is selected and click Next.
Step 3
To add the 6.7U2 ISO file to the VM later, select the option below and click Next.
Step 4
Select the ESXand ESXi 6.5 and lateroptions in the operating system selection window and click the Next button.
Step 5
Change the VM nameand click on the Next button. You also store the VM disk on an External HDD.
Step 6
Set the number of processors according to the hardware specifications of your computer and then click the Next button.
Step 7
If your computer has 16 or 32 GB of RAM, set a RAM size under these values for the VM and click on the Next button.
Step 8
Select the NAT network configuration for network settings and click Next.
Step 9
Select the Paravirtualized SCSI option and continue with the steps for creating a VM.
Step 10
Select the SCSI option and click Next.
Step 11
To create a new virtual disk for installation, select Create a new virtual diskand click Next.
Step 12
Select 100 GB HDD size for virtual hard disk, and click Next after you select Store virtual disk as a single file option.
Step 13
Click Next to leave the name of the disk file as default.
Step 14
The summary information of the VM you created on VMware Workstation 14.1.2 Pro is as follows. Click the Finish button.
Step 15
Open the settings of the virtual machine and enable the processor virtualization feature as follows. Also, to add the ISO file that you downloaded to your computer to the VM, click on CD/DVD and then click the Browse button.
Step 16
Select the ISO file and click the Open button.

How to Install ESXi 6.7U2 on Oracle VM VirtualBox
It is possible to run vSphere Hypervisor 6.7U2 with VirtualBox, but VirtualBox does not support Nested virtualization. For testing purposes only, you can install and try it on VirtualBox.
To setup ESXi 6.7U2 on a Windows PC / Laptop using VirtualBox, follow these steps in order.
Step 1
First, install VirtualBox on Windows 10 and then run VirtualBox and click the New button to create a new VM.
Step 2
Configure a 4 GB RAM size for the virtual machine and click the Next button.
Step 3
To create a new virtual disk, check Create a virtual hard disk nowand click Next.
Step 4
Select VDI (VirtualBox Disk Image) for the virtual machine and click the Next button.
Step 5
Select the Dynamically allocated option and click on the Next button.
Step 6
Configure the virtual hard disk size and store the virtual machine disk in a different location. Click on the Create button to continue with the steps for installing VMware vSphere 6.7U2 on VirtualBox.
Step 7
Vmware Esxi 6.0 Download Iso
On the virtual machine, click Settings.
Step 8
Configure the virtual machine Boot sequence as follows.
Step 9
Add 4 processors to the virtual machine, and then click the Acceleration tab.
Step 10
Enable the Enable VT-x/AMD-V and Enable Nested Paging to enable Hardware Virtualization.
Step 11
For virtual machine on VirtualBox you absolutely need to configure the Bridged Adapter. Otherwise, you will not be able to access the virtual machine.
Step 12
Select the Wireless or Ethernet network adapter for the bridged adapter.
Step 13
Add the ISO file to the VirtualBox virtual machine and click on the OK button.
Step 14
Run the virtual machine.

vSphere 6.7 has been released and as known from previous versions, VMware provides a free version of their Hypervisor ESXi for everyone again. The license key can be created for free at VMware's website. It has no expiration date. The binaries you will receive as 'Free Hypervisor' are 100% identical to the paid version but with some software limitations.
Tech Specs and Limitations
- No commercial support (But great community support)
- Free ESXi cannot be added to a vCenter Server
- Some API functionality is missing
- No physical CPU limitation
- Number of logical CPUs per host: 480
- Maximum vCPUs per virtual machine: 8
Other limitations like the 32GB Memory or 2 CPU Socket limit are no longer in place.
If you already obtained a free key for ESXi 6.0 or 6.5 and you want to upgrade to 6.7, you can proceed to use the old key. All key are valid for vSphere 6.0, 6.5 and 6.7.

- Login or create an account
- Register for ESXi (Enter some personal information)
After registration, you will receive a unique license key and access to the binaries. If you already have an ESXi 6.x license key, you don't need to sign up for a new key. - Download VMware vSphere Hypervisor 6.7 - Binaries
- Install ESXi to your Hardware (Create a Bootable ESXi Installer USB Flash Drive)
- Login as root with the Embedded Host Client (https://<ESX>/ui/)
- Navigate to Manage -> Licensing
- Click Assign license and enter your license key
